Day 13

Classic Kids, or films the kids in your life have to see before they are 13 or else!

Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein (1948), Directed by Charles Barton

Why?  Well, Abbott and Costello films were definitely considered 'B' products, but this film, now listed with American Film Institute and National Registry, against odds, is something special.  The pace, the comedic banter,  the plethora of famous Universal studio movie monster actors, such as the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr.), Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein ( Glenn Strange) and the Invisible Man (Voiced by Vincent Price, uncredited). This movie always surprises me. If you want to watch a goofy, joyful, movie than this is it.

My daughter Joelle says this about the movie, "the film is silly and outrageous, that's why I like it.  It just feels good to laugh at the weird things they do.  Abbott and Costello are just so funny.  My favorite scenes are with the multiple monsters and Costello, he is always running into them, unexpectedly"

Themes:  Monster and mystery genres, friendship, comedy
Questions:  Who is your favorite Bud Abbott (tall guy) or Lou Costello?  Which monster is the scariest?  Why is this movie funny?  How is this movie different than other comedies today?
