Classic Kids, or 100 films that the kids in your life have to see by 13 or else!

Day 94:  ELF  * 7 and older

Will Ferrell is SO cute in this movie!  One of my star students from Edgewood, Erin, will be glad I finally got around to ELF; it is her favorite movie.  I can see why she loves it so, the character of Elf sees everything through the eyes of innocence and love; which might sound annoying, but is quite the opposite.  Ferrell is so perfectly cast and believable that you just go with it.  The film got a PG rating because of some mild swearing and potty humor, but in general, the movie is family friendly to the max.  My favorite scene is in the mail room, hilarious!  Wait, what about those scenes with Santa, those are pretty cool too, hmmm?  Enjoy anytime of the year, lovely, funny, absurd little film

Themes:  Acceptance, love, humanity, honesty, friendship

Media Literacy Questions:  How did the filmmakers create the world of Santa?  What is Elf's main problem and how does he work it out?  Why does Elf approach life from a kids point of view?  Are there any special effects in the movie, and if so what were they?
