Classic Kids, or 100 films the kids in your life have to see by 13 or else!

Day 48:  Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

From an original story by Valentine Davies, this Holiday classic stars Natlie Wood, Maureen O'Hara, John Payne and Edmund Gween.  Synopsis:  the tale takes place during the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas in New York City, when a man claiming to be the real Santa Claus comes to visit.  He, Kris Kringle takes a job as a store Santa Claus and the troubles starts.  The film garnered some Academy Awards, including best writing, and best original story.  It really is quite original.

Themes:  Trust, imagination, wishing, fantasy and myth
Media Literacy Questions:  How is this story different than other Holiday films?  What are the key values addressed in the movie?  How can you tell the film was made in the late 1940s?
