Day 15
Classic Kids: or films your kids have to see by 13 or else!

Easter Parade

Joelle (jo jo) picked out this film and I say perfect timing!  So much to enjoy about this funny, little musical, with all of the Irving Berlin songs, and the cast of Garland, Astaire and Ann Miller.   The Technicolor aspects are brilliant, the yellow and the reds, wow!

The link to Ann's amazing tap dancing on "Shaking the blues away" is below.  Little trivia, she did this dance with a lower back brace on, because of an injury, amazing.

Better luck next time (Garland)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soul5EKZUr4

Themes:  Vaudeville, Broadway, Dance teams, New York City, Studio musicals, Technicolor

Questions:  What are the goals of the main characters?  How do their goals clash?  How is the Dance circuit explored in this film?  How did the MGM back lot create a New York City of 1912?  What do you notice about dress, hair, and automobiles?
