# 14 of 25, funniest film (okay and some TV as well) moments

The ending of Billy Wilder's Some Like It Hot (1959)

Yes, there is Monroe, Curtis and Lemmon, but this film is wonderful, witty Wilder all the way through, up to the best closing line ever!  If you have not seen the film, watching this clip will not wreak it for you; hopefully it will wet your cinematic appetite to catch the whole thing.  Billy Wilder, the writer and director of the movie, was a German immigrant, who came to Hollywood in the late 1930s.  His humor, filled with the insights that only an outsider can bring, pokes fun at the artifice of gender, class and American puritan attitudes toward sex.
