Classic Kids, or 100 films the kids in your life have to see by 13 or else!
Day 34: 20,000 Leagues under the Sea (1954)
A Disney live-action flick with some major actors: Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Peter Lorre. This is the first Sci-Fi film for Walt Disney Productions. Based on the Jules Verne classic, this version is the best! Silly at times, funny and also scary, you will have a ball.
Themes: Trust, intelligence, compassion, courage
Media Literacy questions: How did the producers create an under sea experience? Why did Disney use major movie actors to tell this story? Why did the producers use Cinemascope and Technicolor? How might the film look today? Would there be different effects? Were there any stereotypes? What is the moral of the story?
I never saw this! How is that possible?
